Back in 2003 when i was in year 11 fanging around the corridors of St Patricks College Sutherland and was lucky enough to get my hands on a couple of the hottest tickets in town. Pop punch was reaching a euphoric crescendo of popularity, particularly among angst ridden teens (if you know my propensity for a good old neg now you might be able to imagine what a 17 year old me was upto) and i somehow stumbled upon tickets to yellowcards under 18s show at the Enmore Theatre. Before you laugh, think back to the shit you were digging in highschool, sitting in your room thinking about that little dream boat in the blazer and short skirt in your class who gave you a little goodbye cuddle before hopping on the bus every afternoon, no wonder teenage boys loose their minds on a regular basis. This band were just dudes singing catchy songs about babes, which seem so damn poignant when your dealing with an exponential rise in hormones that make you believe your previously functioning brain has been chained to the will of a mad man. Whats more is their music was driven by the evocative chords of the violin. I went to the show, jumped and sung with the rest of the sell out crowd and had an absolute ball. This is the shit has a way of sticking with you, especially for one of my best mates who now has the name of title track from the bands debut album tattooed on his back tits.....so sick
