In the 60's and 70's there was indeed a myriad of different subversive subcultures that fanged around getting in fights, sporting our of control hair do's and vying for superiority on the street. We here at hell men definitely have a soft spot for mods, but on the streets of Melbourne their was one group of death that held the mods from developing a grandiose carnaby street that spanned this hot land, and these hell men were the sharpies. I must admit i knew nothing about these dudes except for the odd mention when i studied various youth subcultures until i received this video from avid mod squad follower and all round rock ledge Todd "Griggsy Griggs". From what i read in some hasty google driven research was that the Sharpies were a bunch of dudes and babes with a tendency to rock bullshit shaved head, faux hawk, mulletesque combos, wearing designer cardigans and being extremely conscious of still looking "sharp" (from where the sharpie moniker developed) while still managing to be excessively violent and have a lust for beating the tripe out of dudes like mods and hippies. The best way to get some perspective of how bullshit these dudes were is to check this video from the height of the Sharpie reign over the suburbs of inner Melbourne.
