Amy is a sweet Lady

Amy Meredith are the poppy dudes who have been fanging up, down and around the Aussie indie scene for the last couple of year, breaking hearts and landing some of the raddest support acts around, including The Bravery and Silversunpickups. Coming out of the "cough" shire you could expect these dudes to be a bunch of wankers writing about hanging out at fusion and sharks games. However these skitswads are just a bunch of hellmen trying to play some music, see the world and maybe even, god permitting, meet their wives along the way.

Last year they released their melodically wonderful debut ep, which was as catchy a mother bitch.

Now they are about to release their first full length album and to celebrate they are embarking on a cute little tour around New South Wales, including the Heritage Hotel at Bulli on June 25th and i implore any within cabs distance to get your tits out there while they are still playing low key shows. Their is no doubt it is just a matter of time before they become the men.

To get your mouths watering like a watering hole or a water melon, i asked lead guitarist and creative figure head Joel Chapman some questions about what is in the heart and mind of Amy.




MS- So you guys are touring this months with stops like the gong and Newy, tell the modsquad a few of your favourite memories from these cities of steel.

Well the last time we played in wollongong I woke up in the bed of a big curly haired man and the last time we played in newcastle I dont think I even went to bed at all.. so who knows what these next adventures will bring. hopefully more big curly haired men.. you cant catch kooties twice can you?
I dont think any human in history has ever cuaght that strain of Kooties twice..Now on to question two, you handsome little devil..( NB Some qustions may have been altered by Joel)
MS- Your a self proclaimed internet hellman, sending sea crows messages online to chicks like it was 1998, got any tips to help those aspiring digital Casanovas out there?

Umm you know just be yourself, dont overthink it and maybe you will find your cyber wife.. Actually no, who am I kidding. Scan the internet and make sure every single shot of you that can be found is capturing your perfect angle and in no time it will be raining (wo)men.

MS- At school i remember distinctly discussing the glories of babes such as Delta Goodrum and Mandy Moore for hours on end, now you have just been babing out with them? When how and did you ask them to marry you

Well the times I've "hung out" with Delta, shes' been with her husband to be Mr Brian Mcnugget.. so I dont think that would have gone down well. and Mandy Moore was so overwhelmingly dreamy that I didnt really say anything intellectual at all. so there was no question popping.
I did write a song with Delta however, which was cool.. I think she might have thrown it in the bin but who knows we could be seeing it on her next album..

MS- We love a good neg out here, how do you get your negs on paper and whats Amys biggest neg track?

Are you kidding.. we only write poptastic music.. there's no negging out. wait till you hear the new album.. its totally non negiiiinnnnn.

MS- Word on the street is you have your debut album in the works, whens it coming and what are you sounding like?

Well we finally just finished up with the production and mixing of the album, thanks to a couple of loverrllly American dudes, Brian Paturalski (Outkast, Britney Spears) and Mark Needham (The Killers, Hot Hot Heat, We are Scientists, Fleetwood Mac) so if thats anything to go by I guess its a bit of pop, a bit of rehab and a bit of debauchery.

We'll have a new single, filmclip and fresh snaps in a bout a month or so, with the album to follow.. sooooo hang in there..

MS- Mad name drops, at least you know no ones got beaf with the Mac
do you guys ever have creative differences, how do you solve them?

Yeah we totally do all the time. Im usually right, so I guess whoever disagrees with me just has to cave in. thats how we solve them.

Q7- Your an aspiring skits wad rock band, do you have any hellman rocker stories?

umm the singer from Bloc Party threw up in the bathroom in our hotel room when we were in Hollywood. That was pretty cool.. ohh and umm we got to play with one of my high school sweetheart bands 'the bravery' and that was really coo tool. they said they had been listening to our music in their tour van.
