Dream brother is a moving and captivating depiction of the life, music and death of two intricate and gifted minds, who happen to be father and son. I just finished reading this wonderfully written biography that focuses on the existence of the incredibly talented Tim Buckley and and his equally as skilled and eccentric son Jeff, who acquired both his stunning falsetto and tormented mind, but not his passion for jazz rock fusion. Beautifully written by Dave Browne the book projects you on a delightfully honest ride into the inner sanctum of their music, romances, substance abuse, their fractured relationship with each other and their ultimate demise and left me with anew found appreciation for Jeffs work. While at times i found the book to be a bit difficult to follow as i had no prior knowledge of Tims world, overall i found the content to be extremely captivating, escaping from the pits of utter despair before reaching a crescendo of personal triumph and musical ecstasy within the space of pages. This deep reaching work throws light on the tragic and enigmatic tale that is the lives of these two men with the same name, different music and similar struggles with the music industry and gives them the biography they deserve.
