on our favourite song. Seeing it was a middle class Catholic school in 1996 it shouldn't come as a suprise that there was some absolute preteen poop being emmited from the speakers from the classrooms tape deck. I destinctly remember songs by Celine Dion, the sign by ace of base and one poor little kid ran out of the room crying his tits off when he took the classes jovial sing along on his favourite track Yellow Submarine as a personal attack. However im happy to say that i managed to steer clear of the manufactured tracks and was happy to bop along to Oasis' hit Wonderwall.
Recently i have been pretty obsessed with brit pop and with the melodic sounds and well crafted and poingnant lyrics i have recently been once again drawn back in by these muscial shralp faces from manchester.
In particular i have been all over their second, and in my oppionion best (though this is'nt even an oppinion shared by the creators of this blog) album with such glorious tracks as Dont look Back in Anger, Champegne Supernova and the afformentioned hit that had my 10 year old mouth singing along on the way to school.
During this period the Liam, Noel and the boys were the absolute men with a back to back performance at and out door footy field over two nights where 250,000 tickets were sold in minutes and over 2.5 million tickets were actually applied for. This is absolutely rediculous and theoretically equates to the show being sold out for 52 nights in a row.
Oasis are just as notorious for their offstage antics with reports of rampant meth use, in band blowups and the battle of brit pop which was ignited by the band rivalry with Blur and came to a head when Noel Gallagher claimed to the british paper the Observer that he that he hoped Damon Albarn and Alex James of Blur "catch aids and die", which caused caused great acrimony in the media across the English speaking world.
Heres an absolutely bullshit clip of Dont Look Back in Anger being played in their local city in 2005. Imagine being there.
