MacGill Doesn't Dig Beer.

This week Australia have picked the tenth dude to assume the mantle as the nations premiere spin bowler since the retirement of Warnie, the ultimate hellman. The latest man designated to send down some twirlers, in the defining test of an Ashes no lest, is adopted West Australian Michael Beer. To describe his as an unknown is an understatement and it makes you lament the fact that during the tenure of the greatest ever spin bowler, we had an absolute shralper like Stuart MacGill waiting in the wings.

Stuart MacGill was often seen as a bit of an outcast in the Australian team, with his quiet demeanour and penchant for fine wine. However his ability to spin the ball like a mother bitch and take a shit tonne of wickets can never been questioned.

Throughout MacGills career it was well documented that he did not really dig having a beer with his team mates after a hard fought victory and the irony was not lost that it was once again his distaste towards beer that made him pop up in my little my mind again. At the announcement of Michael Beers pending test debut he came out and made some incredibly relevant points, that former male model Chris Bauer kindly relayed to me. Stuart MacGill on the selection of Michael Beer:

"He has a mere 16 wickets at the unflattering average of 39.93 in the Sheffield Shield.

Hilditch claimed it was a horses-for-courses selection with Beer expected to excel on his home ground in Perth.
But as MacGill rightly pointed out, Beer has only played at the WACA ground three times in his life. And he's never taken more than three wickets in an innings."
In the Words of the aforementioned former babe, "God help us all"Another vid of former glories we can only hope against hope will be recaptured come Thursday.
