Far out. Tomorrow is my last day of uni forever an i am feeling a myriad of ambivalent emotions. I know that i may sounds like some little boy negging about something we all have to go through but this is a massive time of transition in my life. For the past five years I've typed away behind a computer, attended class and listened to discussions on ridiculously abstract topics, including and not limited to weather animals have emotions and the importance of b grade horror films to pop culture, made friends from around the globe and generally had a friging good time fanging around and just digging the uni scene. However all this comes to an abrupt halt tomorrow and the only thing i can really relate it to is the end of highschool. When i finished year twelve i didnt go skits on schoolies on the goldy or on a cruise with the rest of the dudes from school, instead i went away for a trip to the dreamy little coastal town of Scotts Head, which for many years was like a second home to me. Turned out that this little month long vacation was one of the most memorable of my life. It is of little wonder why when you consider it comprised such out of control moments as having a new years ever party with red wine ending up all over the house including on the light globe, having our door kicked in by aggrieved locals at the same party, accusing Greeny of spilling tomato sauce on the ground, only for him to deny it with sauce all over his face, getting accosted by a younger girls father while you stand at the front door wearing only a bed sheet and playing 100 shots in a hundred minutes, Jack running to spew in the toilet only to go arse over teet on someone else's spew and put his little knee cap through the toilet seat. All the while when this shit was going on one Cd took centre stage. A fabled CD known simply as the Love Mix. Compiled by then 17 year old cousin, showing great wisdom beyond his years, these CD features a bunch of song that listened to in any other context may seem beyond gross, however as a mix they were the catalyst to a potent mix of good vibes, babes and mates, the type of stuff that reminds me that going through a bit of change aint all that bad.
Here is the glorious track listing if you dare recreate the magic and a few of the hits to get you in the mood.
